Few but Proud, Then and Now

The Value of Volunteer Service Matters

In 2025, the Arizona Rangers proudly served communities across our state in support of public safety and law enforcement partners.

By the numbers:

• 45,000 uniformed volunteer hours contributed

• 811,000 miles traveled in service

Estimated cost savings to Arizona taxpayers:

• $1.35 million in labor value (based on average Arizona police officer wages)

• $245,000+ in fuel costs alone

• Nearly $1.6 million in total direct savings

What that means at the individual level:

• Each Ranger averaged 111 uniformed volunteer hours

• Nearly 2,000 miles driven using personal vehicles

• ≈ $3,900 in direct cost passed through each Ranger

These figures do not include additional costs agencies would normally incur for overtime, administrative duties, benefits, training, vehicles, maintenance, insurance, uniforms or equipment making the true value of volunteer service even greater.

The Arizona Rangers are a volunteer civilian organization committed to:
  • Supporting law enforcement

  • Serving Arizona communities

  • Providing visibility, deterrence, and assistance

  • Giving time, resources, and service freely

  • This is what service looks like.

  • Proud to serve Arizona.
